Why devils woodyard? Growing up, Dad always referred to a field adjacent to the hog farm as the devils woodyard. I never heard where the name comes from, but if you look at old USGS TOPO maps of the site the field is listed as the devils woodyard. We are an independent, 5th generation family owned and operated small hog farm in Eastern NC. We farm like my grandparents did. All the feed is made on site. All the corn we feed is planted and harvested by us. Every pig we sell was born on site. We have a relationship with a local vet who often makes site visits to assess herd health and make recommendations. We are NOT organic or pasture raised pork. If that's what you are looking for that's awesome and I hope you find an excellent farmer. Our pigs are hybrids of Duroc for meat quality and growth rate and Large White for maternal quality and litter size. The bulk of our pigs are sold at market and custom butcher shops from Winston Salem to Little Washington. I pick out the best of the litter and have them custom processed by an NC based USDA inspected plant.
